Program Overview

ArtWorks Enterprises (AWE), a division of St. Louis ArtWorks, was launched after winning the 2006 Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation Competition (SEIC) at Washington University Skandalaris Center for Entrepreneurial Studies. AWE brings in new revenues through the sale of replicable products produced as multiples designed by the apprentices.

The first venture is Boomerang Press, offering holiday and Community Art cards, as well as graphic services. The apprentices that work in the “Boomerang Gang” are apprentices with advanced skills and show a strong interest in learning the business of art. Boomerang press has created Community Art cards illustrating unique communities such as The Hill, Benton Park West, JeffVanderLou, Grand Center, and Downtown. Buy Boomerang Press ArtCards

The second venture, BoomerRacks, launched in 2008, is the design and fabrication of bicycle racks created from old bike parts.  For more information on how to commission your custom designed bike rack call Priscilla Block at 314.289.4181.

Testimonials

“Naturally, when we initially hired you for our project, we were pleased to work with an organization actively helping young people develop creative thinking and employment skills. As the process went on and we saw their initial presentations we were impressed with the work that they had put in to the project and the ideas they had come up with. When we wanted to make changes to their initial suggestions, we appreciated how willing and able they were to help incorporate our ideas into the cards. And finally, we love the end result!”
